A Trip to The Dentist

Posted on

Javier’s first visit to the dentist turned out to be a success. He was nervous at first but nevertheless gave in after the dentist calmed him down by explaining to him the functions of her every gadget. She even gave him a big sunnies to protect his eyes from the bright light and water splashes and it’s yellow, his favorite color.

Joe and Judith visited the dentist too but they only went for a consultation and blimey. My 2 kids need braces which will cost me RM8K. I think I need a loan. Dentist loan?

Anyway, Javier had 2 fillings to cover up the holes in his back teeth. He was fidgeting in his seat when the process started but who wouldn’t upon hearing the screeching sound coming out from the high speed air driven dental drill and also the SssSSSS sound that produces from the saliva injector that sucks out excessive saliva during procedures. Urrghhh… I don’t really like going to the dentist either since the school dentist and nurse chipped my front tooth in secondary school. I should have sued her for negligence.

But that was the past, so no hard feelings. If only I knew, I could have asked her to get me a braces in return of not suing her. Haha!

GOT IT Already!

After much waiting, Little Javier finally got his ‘Disney Cuties’ Mickey Mouse’ from Guardian.

With the help of family members, we managed to get 25 stickers in 3 weeks. I wouldn’t want to wait till 60 stickers because I’m afraid
‘Mickey’ would ran out of stock.

Now, we wouldn’t want that to happen do we? I don’t wanna break my little son’s heart. He loves Mickey.

TADA! 25 stickers collected. Last 4 stickers given by ‘grandma’!

Unexplainable but Drawable

This morning, Javier was having a conversation with me. Well, actually the conversation started last night and thank goodness it ended this morning. He was telling me that the art glues I bought for him ain’t sticky enough. Not as sticky as the ones his kindy teacher uses.

So, I told him I would buy him one but he’ll have to describe to me how does it look like.

I asked him,

  • the size of the bottle
  • the shape of the bottle
  • the color of the glue, etc

He tried to explain to me but I didn’t get him. Silly me. I kept on asking does it have a sponge dispenser, was it long and thin, does the cap opens up or does it twists to open, is the glue invisible, is the tip pointy.. to his horror, he threw his tantrums and to my horror, he said, “Hai-ya! I’ll draw for you to see!”

Alamak, kinda like a slap in the face. I should have asked him to do that earlier. Why I didn’t think of it? I kept on asking questions, looking for answers. Well, I guess this is a lesson for me. So, to all parents out there, if you can’t get what your kids is saying or your kids can’t get what you preach, draw it out and explain. That would cut the time of debates and most of all, it’s really cute to find out how smart and creative a child can be when it comes to expressing their needs with art.

Pity Javier

Javier was unwell since yesterday. He had high fever due to sore gums and throat. My parents brought him to the doctor as I was working. But thankfully, he’s okay now. Gone is the fever but the mouth ache is still there. His appetite haven’t returned yet but it’s coming. He’s definitely jollier than yesterday.

This morning, I woke him up to go to the market with my mom. During his bath time, he said,

“Mommy, wait I go market, people see my face ‘bengkak’ then they laugh at me how?”
Aww.. ain’t that cute? I didn’t know little kids have such thoughts. In the end, he gave up his tantrums and followed me and my mom to the market and he craved for soya bean so I got him a cup. Home-boiled for sure. :)

1. Antibiotic (Donald Duck)
2. Cough & Phlegm (Mickey Mouse)
3. Swollen (Minnie Mouse)
4. Pain (Daisy Duck)
5. Fever (Goofy)

*i gave the medication names because it’s FUN for Javier.. i allow him to choose which character he would like to nibble first and I always take a sip to show him it isn’t so bad after all. I actually also asked Judith to take a sip to convince him. LOL! Judith told me quietly,

“Mummy, it’s very YUCKY!”

This was Javier yesterday when I got back from work

This morning on the way to the market.. can you see his cheeks burning red.. check out the veins!

Later in the afternoon, when he had played Bejeweled and Search & Find Games on my laptop, his mood was better and he wasn’t so needy anymore.

Look! He’s smiling already and he can play his NDS.

At 2pm, it was medication time. We skipped the fever meds since his fever had subsided. Sleepiness took over.

Actually, sleepiness will take over me soon. I can feel the grogginess. The last time I had a nap on a weekday was…. the day before I started work. HMPH! Btw, I take naps every weekend. To Hubby’s annoyance, every time he turns his back and then back to me, he finds me sleeping on the couch, on the bed, on the car-seat and sometimes on the sofa at my in-laws.
