A Long Saturday

Posted on

We had a long Saturday… in the morning we had breakfast at Old Town Kopitiam along Jalan Menara Gading, Taman Connaught (near UCSI). Okay do not patronize there. Service sux and food was terrible unlike the one at Jaya Jusco, Cheras Balakong. At JJ, CS the atmosphere is much more heavenly.
Anyway after our breakfast.. it was MegaKidz time! Judith wanted go there ever since her 6th birthday which was in May but we couldn’t find the right time. So, since that Saturday was also our ICE AGE 3 day and there was also a ‘Pet World Exhibition’ going on, we decided to do it all in a day!
Before entering MegaKidz, we were all scanned for fever symptoms. Yup even the adults weren’t left out. It’s just a precaution which was very responsible of them. Made us parents feel so safe (fingers crossed). LOL!

This 2 went UP and DOWN this giant slide

TIME-OUT & CHECK-OUT

EXHIBITION
After some play time, we headed to the ‘Pet World Exhibition’ which was held at MVEC (MidValley Exhibition Centre). There was an entrance fee where adults are charged at RM5 and children at RM2 (above 3yrs old).
Rabbit Competition – the first ever in Malaysia

Don’t know what are they called but they cost RM180 one

Furry friends are so fluffy but I’m not a fan of them

This doggy is for show only so as the ones below which spells out ‘NO TOUCHY’ written on their owner’s face

Ah only this lovely lady let the kids ‘sayang’ her pup. It’s a longhair miniature daschund.. so cute

MOVIE
It was movie time at 1.30pm but we only got led in into the theatre at 1.45pm. There was like a rush of humans when they led us in. It was pretty scary haha like a scene from Jumanji. ICE AGE 3 was so fun-nee. Hubby thought it was better than the previous ones. Kids and adults had a great time except for me because of the couple sitting behind me that kept on yapping and giggling.
DINNER
For dinner, we had Nancy with us. We were teenager-sitting her while she child-sit our kids. Hehe. Cecilia was supposed to tag along but she had some personal stuff to do. Too bad! We didn’t know what to eat but later on decided on Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. Something that we always eye on but never thought of trying. Bubba Gump Shrimp Co is located at The Curve on the 1st Floor. It is inspired by the 1994 Paramount motion picture “Forrest Gump” that starred Tom Hanks and Mykelti Williamson as Pvt. Benjamin Buford ‘Bubba‘ Blue; hence the restaurant’s name.

Camwhore first

We found our perfect table

Our loyal waiter, RAY from the Philippines explaining to us what’s our role if we were to expect food on our table.

This means “COME WAITER COME“….

…and “GO WAITER GO“.

Kids were busy with crayons and puzzles

Famous Words of Wisdom

“Life is like a box of chocolates.

You never know what you’re gonna get.”
(i certainly like my life like that)

“Love is blind and marriage is a real eye-opener!”
(tell that to those that are keen on marriage)

“MEASURE TWICE, CUT ONCE”
(doesn’t everyone?)

FOODZ……

This was my “Shrimpin’ Dippin’ Broth” (RM35.90) and I only need to add another RM8.90 for a Caesar Salad.

This is Nancy’s, “Bourbou Street Baramundi” (RM29.90)

Hubby’s, “Salmon and Vege” (RM36.90)

Kids ordered from Kidz Menu.. a boat of, “Fish & Chips” and a boat of, “Burger” both at RM12.90 and both came sailing with blue jelly.

Kids Lemon-Up which comes in BLUE and RED in light-up cups (RM9.90 per glass) and if you wanna take Bubba’s light-up cup home, it’s only RM24.90 with the juice.

Eating at Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. is fun and homey. Look what these 2 has got to show!!

Food and drinks were great.. so much choices.. in fact too many to select from.. service was absolute but a little slow but I cannot blame them with the amount of customers going in and out; one after another. I would love to return to Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. It’s a DEFINITE!

3 Little Babies

We were over at Great Eastern Mall over the weekend to stock up on dairy and protein food. After doing our grocery shopping, the kids went into Pets Wonderland as usual, to browse through the cages and acrylic boxes.

This time, it wasn’t hamsters or dogs. TERRAPINS… but in this case maybe ‘terrapinos’ and ‘terrapinas’. Lol!  They were awed by them. They said they were soooooo C-U-T-E. Then… the debate started with the chanting of “I want, I want!”. So, ME @ Mommy, said.. “GO ASK DADDY!”.

:p

:p

I’m sure Daddy loves terrapins too. He loves animals – all different species but to keep them as pets of course. I bet he wouldn’t mind snakes and creepy crawlies but not me. I don’t think I’m that adventurous.

So, as you know… stuff in pet shops inside shopping malls are a bit overpriced. We know we can get most of everything at almost half of the price outside. We went straight to an aquarium shop that we frequented before in the past to check out the price and perhaps do some purchasing?

Psst.. Hubby used to rear fishes in our tiny room. Discus and its plentiful of freshwater grassy species which I had a hard time tying them to rocks using little chicken-like nettings. You remember that, dear? Phew~

Ok back to terrapins… We arrived at the aquarium shop half and hour later with the kids bragging about the turtles all the way. I was kinda restless already. I wasn’t well and was quite blur in a way with the runny nose, bitter throat thingy and the terrible heat that’s trying to burst out of me. And.. we were right! The terrapins were way cheaper; each Taiwan Terrapins @ Long Tail are only at RM9 while it was RM18 at Pets Wonderland ; whereas the normal Terrapins @ Short Tail are only RM7 but were priced at RM12 at Pets Wonderland. So, we were glad that we saved quite a lot. Joe and Javier each chose a Taiwan Terrapin while Judith was fond of the Short Tail one. We got a glass aquarium along with a floating stone, mini filter pump plus Terrabites. Lol..

We got home, and put them into their new home. Hopefully a permanent home but they’re definitely not going down our throats. Here are a few pictures that I took.

  • Joe named his terrapin LUIGI
  • Judith named her terrapin LILY
  • Javier named his terrapin MARIO

These 2 are way hyperactive.. always together as the saying goes, “He Aint’s Heavy, He’s My Brother”.

Presenting…. LILY

The shy one…. and a little grumpy too

The kids dropped 3 pellets and it ate 2!

Definitely a cam-whore

p/s: so MOM, don’t worry you won’t get to see them … hehe unless you want to see them… but they’re at the back of our room –  no worries!
