Chronology of Hub’s Abscess

DEFINITION of ABSCESS

~Abscesses occur when an area of tissue becomes infected and the body’s immune system tries to fight it.

~A collection of pus (dead necrophiliacs) in any part of the body that, in most cases, causes swelling and inflammation around it.

~White blood cells move through the walls of the blood vessels into the area of the infection and collect within the damaged tissue.

~When an area of tissue becomes infected and the body’s immune system tries to fight it, pus forms and thus a removal surgery is required.

On the 25th of October, Hub was admitted into PCMC at about 11pm. We thought it would be a normal general check up on his boil but we didn’t know the seriousness of it until the doctor on duty said he would have to stay the night and surgery is required the next morning.

Thank goodness the next day was Deepavali; so I’m off and about to the hospital the next morning.

Ms Nursy attending to Hubs

Hubs was put on a drip the night before so Ms Nursy had to removed the drip as he has to get ready for surgery.

Prepping Hubs for surgery

I couldn’t go beyond the prepping room if not I would have gotten pictures during the operation!

So, I went down for breakfast!

My Breakfast – Fried rice and a cup of coffee… YUM

After about an hour and half, Hubs was wheeled in ASLEEP! Haha!

Zzzzzz….the only time he is vulnerable

He’s still halfway to earth… sedated and drowsy and blur!

That night, Judith camped at the hospital. She wants to take care of daddy so we let her stay and made her bed with the sofas in the room. I got extra blankets and pillows from the nurses and she enjoyed her stay; especially the hospital food which she loved.

Judith savoring on hospital food but that’s my Nescafe!

The Chronology of Hub’s Abscess

After surgery, the surgeon a.k.a. doctor didn’t patch up the hole as it needs to heal from the inside out. Therefore, there wasn’t much of a sitting down for Hubs. He had to either sleep on his side, sit sideways and lay on his stomach. No going to the gym, no cycling and no swimming. Lots of NOs’ and DON”Ts.

And of course after the much enduring pain and discomfort, what goes well, ends well. The last wound cleaning by the  doctor was on the 14th of November and future cleaning had to be done at home. So we bought kits from the pharmacy i.e. sterile, plasters, creams, gels, benzyl, etc.

The Finale on 27th December 2011!

I would still probably take 2-3 pictures after this and upload them later. I’m sure the wound would have been healed and sealed.

My next post would be about the food that my mom cooked for Christmas Lunch!
